Flawless Imperfections

" I suggest we learn to love ourselves before it's made illegal." -Incubus "Warning"

I've had to hear this song at least a million times and I never paid attention to the power of that phrase. We live in a world full of botox, silicone, and mountains of make-up. Companies make billions of dollars based on our insecurities. I myself find myself looking in the mirror with disgust. I say to myself " Wow, my teeth are crooked" or " Why are my biceps not big?" or my favorite " I'm ugly". Now as I grow in my walk with Christ, I realize that saying this is a MAJOR offense to GOD. How do I know? Well, initially, I look to Genesis 1:27, which says " So He created man in his own image, in the image of GOD he created him; male and female he created them". I doesn't take long to ponder about the fact that we are made in the image and likeness of GOD! What flaws can I find in myself if I'm made in the mold of perfection???

GOD didn't stop his work with our outer appearance. He went all the way. Psalm 139 13-14 says "For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother's womb. I will give thanks to You for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well. Wow! I'm fearfully and wonderfully made!! Be insecure...for what??

Finally, if we do not love ourselves unconditionally, how can we love others in that same way? How can we go out and give the gospel if we're worried about unchangable parts that GOD has given us?

I'm simply saying love yourself. GOD made you wholly without flaw because he's flawless. So everytime you look in the mirror and you find an "imperfection" or flaw. Remember who made it. His imperfections are flawless.
