My Story
Well I've been encouraged to tell the story of what lead me to the Rock. I'm not going to say how I came to Christ because that's a little more personal. I say encouraged because my buddy's think it's pretty funny way God grabbed me. It's good example of answered prayer.
Because of finances, I had to choose a college with low tuition, Kennesaw State. Now most of my friends either got a athletic scholarship or went out of state, so I was left quite literally alone. Now I encountered God at a young age, but I never really committed to being a true follower. I was too afraid of being a religious nutcase so I never took a leap of faith, I always relied on my own strength and never in God. In the first week in my dorm I became aware that my relationship with God is in my hands alone.
So my first week in school I made a list and prayed over the following:1) Lord find me a church so that I may seek you, 2) that I may find a group of friends, 3) a Christian girlfriend. So I focused more on number 2 and 3 pursing them through facebook.com. I came across the profile of I girl and out of ego asked about her plans that Friday. She replied that she was already in a relationship, but she wanted me to come by and meet her friends. So I dressed up in a tight muscle shirt and jeans, and agreed to meet her at a friends house. I was greeted by JJ at the door and he had no clue who I was, he just asked, " You here for the meeting?" I replied," I guess so", I sat down in a circle of chairs and everyone around me pulled out a Bible and then I realized I was at a Bible study. This weight came off my shoulders that instant and a smile covered my face. I was convinced that God had lead me to this group, even though I was trying to hit on a girl, he used it to grab my heart. That year November 26, 2005 I was baptized and committed myself to serving the church. God was faithful to my request, I'm still waiting on 3, but that will come in time.
The verse to know is Philipians 1:6
