Expresso VS Instant
1O) God, You are my God; I shall seek You earnestly; My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You, In a dry and weary land where there is no water. 2) Thus I have seen You in the sanctuary, To see Your power and Your glory. 3) Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, My lips will praise You. 4) So I will bless You as long as I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name. 5) My soul is satisfied as with marrow and fatness, And my mouth offers praises with joyful lips. 6) When I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches, 7) For You have been my help, And in the shadow of Your wings I sing for joy. 8) My soul clings to You; Your right hand upholds me. - Psalm 63:1-8If you haven't figured it out yet, I like drinking Cuban expresso coffee :)
At work, I don't have an expresso maker so I drink instant "expresso" coffee, which of course does not taste anything like the real thing. Then I got to thinking... How I have chosen for the sake of ease and convenience to drink instant coffee instead of getting an expresso maker and taking the time to make the real deal...
- In a small pot, boil a cup of milk
- While the milk is boiling, add a touch of salt
- Brew the expresso coffee in an expresso maker
(Pilon is one of my preferred expresso brands)
- When both are done, add the expresso coffee to the HOT cup of milk.
(You could have your coffee dark and strong, or light and not so strong)
...When I want a REAL cup of Cuban Expresso "Cafe con Leche" I do it the right way.
What am I getting to with this. Well, I parallel the above with how I choose to have QT with God... Not "quality time" or "quiet time" but a "quick time" ... As in how short my time with God is. I barely give Him 30min of my time and I expect so much!...
"I shall seek You earnestly; My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You..."
-- Oh how I have realized that I am NOT seeking God enough!... This morning as I prayed, I did not want to stop! But so many times it's a struggle to make the time to spend a focused time seeking God in Prayer and His Word. I don't want to do the "instant" version of my time with God anymore! I want the REAL DEAL.
May God put in us a thirst for Him like no other - Keep the Faith - JJ

Ps. 42:1,2 -
"As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?"
So encouraging, JJ. Love you!
